Monday is here! Monday is here!
The only thing I love about Mondays is the Make a Difference Monday link up. Mondays are my busy day at work. They’re doubly hard because my husband doesn’t work on Mondays, so I just want to stay home and hang out with him. But, that’s not always possible. Instead of being annoyed, though, I use Mondays to take a big bite out of my to-do list and get my focus for the rest of the week.
This week’s post is short and sweet. Want to make a little difference in the world? Find something you’re passionate about and then use it for good!
My friend Evan turned 50 last week.
In honor of his 50th birthday, he decided to train to run his very first marathon with a team from a local Indianapolis church. They are raising money for World Vision to provide clean water in Africa. Instead of spending his birthday focused on him, he turned the focus on the rest of the world. You can read more about why he’s doing it here. Evan tries to stay in shape. He has run several 1/2 marathons and smaller distances.
He’s using the challenge of a marathon to challenge the people in his circle of influence to do something.
He’s not the first of my friends to use a race as a challenge to make a difference. He’s just the most recent (and probably won’t mind me talking about him on my little blog). The message is the same whether you’re a runner or a walker or don’t do either at all. I participate in a couple of 5Ks a year because I love the causes. I would gladly give my time, abilities and talents to support the causes I believe in the most. I would love to find a way to use my ability to write to support some of my favorite organizations. I’m still researching ways to do that. I’m just as much of a work in progress as you!
What are you passionate about? What do you love to do? How can you use that to make a difference in the world? What causes do you love?
Please comment below and let me know what you’re doing and who you’re supporting. Let’s share ideas to make a difference today!!
I’m constantly trying to use my artistic bent to serve… It’s easy in some ways and SO difficult in others! I have to constantly remind myself to hold things loosely and that as long as I give my work as an offering with the correct motives it’s pleasing to Him regardless of the way I manage to give!
exactly! I’m the LEAST CRAFTY person on the planet, so sometimes i feel like I have nothing to give; but then I remember that I do have gifts, and I just have to remember to use them for Him 🙂

Such a cool idea. This might be the most obvious answer EVER, but I love writing and I enjoy the opportunity to encourage and support others through my blog.
Amen! If it’s wasn’t for MADM, I probably would have given up blogging. This little project gives me a new breath and a new life!

I have a friend raising money to buy a bus for an orphanage. We donated, but I toyed with the idea of making a plea to my readers, but I just don’t think I have a big enough following. I’d much rather raise money writing than running!

I have been thinking a lot lately about how I can use what God gave me to make a difference in the world. I’m not entirely sure of the answer yet, but I’m waiting! And in the mean time, being faithful to where he has me 🙂
