Raging Skies

Posted on July 18, 2023July 23, 2023

Nothing was safe when the storms clouds broke open
Nothing was secure when the winds started to blow
Nothing was dry when the torrents began to fall
Nothing was left in the wake of raging skies

Inside her soul the storm raged fierce
Battling for what was good and true and right
She hid in the cellar of her broken heart
A remnant of what was left after raging skies

The storm clouds parted leaving a devastating view
Of lost, left behind and broken pieces of what used to be
Fragments of a memory and pieces of the dream
Sorrow was left after raging skies

She stood and looked around, small under the broken sky
Hopeless for a moment, allowing herself to feel it all
Withered and beaten, she smiled a small smile
Standing there still despite the raging skies

The pain she knew would pass someday
The fear would give way to a new kind of hope
The restlessness of being stuck between here and there
Washed clear under raging skies

She took a shaky breath and picked up the nearest piece
Of what she had hoped and what could someday be
She wiped her tears and threw back her shoulders
Ready to face the aftermath of raging skies

She would be safe when the storms clouds break open
She would be secure when the winds start to blow
She would find a way to stay dry when the torrents begin to fall
She would still be there in the wake of raging skies
