There are depths to her that no one has seen
Fears that runs deep and cold, never exposed
Longings that are whispered on the wind and forgotten
Prayers that are said into the void in hopes of being heard
There is pain in her that no one has noticed
Two different sides of her own psyche waring for attention
One angry and loud, sure of her own destruction
One subdued and quiet, convinced she is nothing
Voices of her own making plunge her into the depths
Where loneliness and fatigue and fear run free
Where hopelessness sucks the light from the sky
Where joy is fleeting, hidden in the crevises of shadowed peaks
There are depths to her sorrow, depths to her fear, depths to the lost and forgotten
There are depths to her passion that only a few have seen
Joy that runs like wildfire through her soul
Moments of bliss etched into her memory
Praises sung for all that she has seen and known and loved
There is peace that no one has tried to claim
A soul sitting still amid the chaos of a life
One part hopeful, willing a better world into existence
One part skeptical, not wanting to risk being hurt again
Determination of her own making free her from the depths
Where community and rest and trust overtake
Where hope burns the darkness from the mountainside
Where tears cleanse and refill pools of emotion
There are depths to her joy, depths to her hope, depths to the found and remembered
Dueling depths exist within her
Twins that fight and battle and twist
Creating chaos and uncertainty
That wars with order and peace
Dueling depths that take their turns
Sometimes the darkness wins
Sometimes the goodness prevails
But one without the other is useless
And so the dueling depths remain
