April 6: But Then There is Hope
It would be so easy to give up
So easy to decide that today, this moment, was all that would ever be
It would be so easy to give in
So easy to look at the hurts that fight to the surface and let them win
It would be so easy to hide away
So easy to stuff down the things that make you you and be what is expected
It would be so easy to do nothing
So easy to live quietly in the status quo as your soul shrivels a little more every day
But then there is hope
Hope that today, this moment, is a passing experience that you will survive
But then there is hope
Hope that the hurts revealed will free you from the bondage you didn’t know you had
But then there is hope
Hope that what makes you you is full of joy, laughter, love, community and depth
But then there is hope
Hope that the days of the status quo are behind you as your soul blooms anew
No matter the tragedy, the fear, the unknown, the loss
The things that could destroy you, rock your world, leave you lost
Remember, in those moments of isolation, dear soul,
There is hope.
